| Last year
Johanna O’Hagan from Coventry Technical College
stormed through the final to earn Young Designer of
the Year at CLOTHESHOW LIVE 2001 and enjoyed a five
-day placement with designer Tracey Boyd. Joanna also
featured in Fashion2001 last year’s one hour
programme on LWT and the media went mad for her designs.
We are now looking for this year’s winner. Are
you a fashion student who can demonstrate a unique
approach, talent and ability?
This year the panel of judges will include the Fashion
Editor of the Daily Telegraph, Hilary Alexander, top
British fashion designer Tracey Boyd, Stewart Parvin
the youngest royal dresser to date and representatives
from the British Heart Foundation and CLOTHESHOW LIVE
2002.
The panel will select ten finalists who will then
be invited to make up their outfits to be modelled
at CLOTHESHOW LIVE 2002 – held at the Birmingham
NEC from the 6th – 11th December 2002.
Brief:
As the Jubilee year comes to an end, we invite you to
design a dress fit for a Queen. This could be interpreted
as an outfit designed for someone who is going to meet
the Queen at Christmas. The visitor could be attending
the Balmoral church service, walking the Corgi’s
in the Scottish country air or even sitting down for
dinner with the whole Royal Family. All designs
must incorporate something purchased from a BHF shop.
For example, last year’s winning design was
made from recycled fabric that came from second-hand
clothes from the BHF shop
Prizes:
The winner will have the unique opportunity to exhibit
their design at
the show alongside the work of leading British designers.
He/she will also enjoy an exclusive 5-day work experience
placement with Tracey Boyd in London.
Details:
The competition is open to all fashion students.
Each entrant should produce an A3 sketch of a menswear
OR a womenswear design.
